The Bored People Chat Android app is finally on Google Play.

I spent a while getting it through closed testing and review. It's out now. You can install it like any other app.

Why the app is nicer than the browser

On Android, the browser tab is easy to lose. You open Chrome, get distracted, and the chat is buried under twelve other tabs.

The app sits on your home screen. It opens straight into the room. No hunting for the bookmark. No "wait, which tab was it?"

It also feels a little more at home on a phone. Same chat, same animal nickname, same global room. Just easier to pick up when you're bored.

Notifications when friends show up

This is the part I wanted most.

In the browser, you only know a friend is online if you happen to be looking. With the app, you can get a notification when friends come online. So if someone you actually talk to logs in, you'll know without staring at the screen.

Turn notifications on when the app asks (or later in your phone settings). Then you can put the phone down and still catch the people you care about.
