Bored People Chat is one shared tent for strangers on the internet.
No follower counts. No popularity contest. Talk here first.
You must be 13 or older to enter.
You can drop in, say hi, lurk, talk for a while, or leave. Please help keep the tent safe and welcoming for the next bored person.
Respect each other
Treat people like people.
No harassment, hate, threats, stalking, dogpiling, intimidation, or targeted cruelty.
No sexual pressure. “I’m bored” is not consent.
Do not repeatedly pursue someone who has said no, stopped responding, or asked for space.
Be kind
A small reply can change someone’s night.
Lurking is fine. Awkwardness is fine.
Do not mock people for being lonely, grieving, confused, struggling, or vulnerable.
Protect your identity
Do not publicly share your real name, phone number, home address, school, workplace, payment details, or other information that could identify you in real life.
Do not pressure anyone to reveal personal information.
Remember that people online may not be who they claim to be.
Stay in the tent
BPC is for talking on BPC. Do not use the community as a recruitment board for other anonymous or random chat services.
Global Chat
Do not use Global Chat to move users to:
- Other anonymous or random chat sites
- Discord, Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, or similar platforms
- Email, phone, payment apps, or any other outside contact method
Do not post:
- Outside usernames or contact details
- Invite links
- Email addresses or phone numbers
- “Find me there” or “message me elsewhere” instructions
- Pieces of a site name, username, or contact method intended to be combined
Do not disguise, split, encode, or ask another user to relay outside contact information in order to bypass filters.
Mentioning another website as part of a normal conversation is not automatically a violation. Redirecting, recruiting, or coordinating with users to continue the conversation elsewhere is.
Deliberate or repeated attempts may result in an immediate suspension or permanent ban.
DMs
Eligible regulars may use DMs to continue conversations privately on BPC.
When two users have built mutual trust and both clearly agree, they may privately exchange an established contact method such as a Discord or Facebook username.
However:
- Do not pressure someone to move off-platform
- Do not repeatedly ask after they decline or ignore the request
- Do not send unsolicited phone numbers, email addresses, or personal details
- Do not use DMs to recruit users to other anonymous or random chat sites
- Do not use DMs to evade a Global Chat warning, restriction, or filter
Permission to exchange contact information in DMs does not permit harassment, coercion, manipulation, grooming, or unwanted contact.
BPC cannot protect or moderate conversations after users leave the platform. Share outside contact information only when you genuinely trust the other person.
Do not evade safety systems
Do not attempt to bypass moderation by changing spelling, adding spaces or punctuation, splitting information across messages, using coded language, or asking another person to relay blocked content.
Helping another user bypass a filter may also result in restrictions.
Report bad behavior
Tap a nickname to report someone.
Messages may be redacted or removed. Users may be warned, restricted, suspended, or permanently banned depending on the severity and pattern of behavior.
Private messages are not routinely read by moderators. Automated safety systems may scan for rule violations, and flagged content may be reviewed when necessary.
Keep the tent welcoming
Stay kind. Stay anonymous in public. Stay in the tent.
When something feels wrong, trust that feeling and step away, block, or report.
